Little Pika’s

Little Pika’s is a smaller branch of Pika’s Café, offering select popular items from the menu such as breakfast dishes focused on locally made Chamorro sausage-based items. Other selected items include the Tinaktak Burger, Salmon Tinaktak, Korean Barbeque, pork belly sandwiches and rice bowls. The 90-square-foot space is focused on grab-and-go style service.

 

 

Hambros

Opened: Sept. 20

Hambros uses daily-ground beef for its burgers, which range from the Hambros Cheese Burger to the Avocado Burger with wasabi mayo, and its original Oregano Herb Burger. Also on the menu are other choices such as the Vegan Burger with barbecue sauce, Chili Burger, Grilled Shrimp Burger and BBQ Chicken Burger. 

 

Ajiyiro

Opened: Sept. 11  

Location: 389 Chalan Pale Ramon Haya, Yigo

Hours: 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. daily

Seating capacity: 100

Owner: Jay Chen

Number of employees: 10

 

Former chef at Ajiichi Japanese Restaurant Jay Chen opened his own Japanese restaurant in Yigo, specializing in chicken broth-based ramen. Sushi and sashimi are also available on the menu of around 30 dishes, including appetizers such as salads, poke and pickles. 

 

Ma’s Kitchen

Opened: Oct. 6

Location: DNA building, Tamuning

Hours: 10:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m., Tuesday – Saturday; 10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m., Sunday – Monday

Seating capacity: 49

Owner: Casey C. Truong

Number of employees: Around eight

 

“Ma” means mom in Vietnamese. Truong tailored the Vietnamese restaurant to make customers feel like they’re inside her mom’s kitchen. The menu features customizable noodle soups such as Pho and Bun Bo Hue, as well as a range of classic entrees and starters made fresh daily.        

Premier Dentistry

Opened: Oct. 1

Location: 3rd floor ACC building, Upper Tumon

Hours: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Thursday; 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., Friday

Many of the dental treatment rooms at the 4,500-square-foot Premier Dentistry overlook Tumon Bay. The clinic is one of few on Guam equipped with cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), and offers a full range of dental and oral services.

 

Mangilao Dental Clinic

Opened: Sept. 16

Location: Mangilao, on Route 10

Hours: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday and Thursday; 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.,
 Tuesday and Friday – Sunday

Number of operatories: Eight

Owner: Dr. Joon Ha

Number of employees: 13

 

Mangilao Dental Clinic offers children and adult dentistry to include preventive, restorative, endodontics, oral surgery, dentures, crowns and bridges. The clinic features high-end equipment such as digital x-rays, cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and digital charting.

 

Air Seoul

Service launch: Sept. 13

Route: Seoul – Guam

Frequency: Six-times weekly

Aircraft: Airbus 321-200

Guam station manager: Bokyung Moon

 

The Seoul-based low-cost carrier and subsidiary of Asiana Airlines started a six-times weekly non-stop service between Seoul-Incheon and Guam. Air Seoul and sister airline Air Busan are managed together in the Guam office.

 

Bottega Veneta

Opened: Sept. 22

Location: Lotte Duty Free at the A.B. Won Pat International Airport, Guam

Size: 663 square feet

 

The boutique offers the Autumn and Winter 2017 collection of women’s and men’s small and large leather goods, clothing accessories and jewelry. The store is designed in the brand’s new bespoke interior scheme with light-colored wood fixtures, cream colored floor tiles and a center 

 

Roque’s Tavern 

Opened: Oct. 7

Location: Garapan, Saipan

Hours: 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. daily

Seating capacity: 48

Owner and head chef: Juan Carlos Berrocal

Chef and server: Corbin Riggi

Number of employees: Five

 

Roque’s Tavern features flavors of Peru to Saipan. The menu offers Italian dishes with a Peruvian twist and popular Peruvian dishes, such as lomo saltado, a stir fry made with beef, tomatoes, red onions and a flavorful sauce that includes Peruvian peppers and jalea, fried seasoned seafood served with pickled red onion salsa and Peruvian tartar sauce. 

 

Saipan College Prep Academy

Opened: September

Location: Saipan International School

Cost: Varied; college prep courses range from $200 to $300 per month

Capacity: Up to 25 students in each class 

Owner: Keith A. Tessen

Number of employees: Two

 

Saipan College Prep Academy offers college advisement for high school seniors; college preparation courses for high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors and courses in essay-writing for middle and high school students.
