“Children of the Green Jungle” by Deanna Quitigua, an Ohio-born Guam resident and former special education teacher married to the late Joseph Quitugua, was released in June by the Gerard Aflague Collection. The work is a 32-page story for children about Chamorro history and the challenges and changes that indigenous ancestors have experienced under foreign rule for half-a-century by the Spanish, the Japanese and the U.S. governments. It is also meant to encourage readers to assess the value and importance of their Pacific Islander heritage.
