Glimpses Publications was invited to join the United Airlines familiarization trip to San Francisco for Guam media and travel agents from April 21–24. The group experienced the United lounges along the way, including the United Club lounge in the Guam airport, the United Club and Global First lounges in Narita International Airport, the United Club and Global First lounges in the San Francisco airport and the United Arrivals Lounge in the San Francisco airport, which is one of only two worldwide and is open only to arriving international first-class and business-class passengers, featuring a breakfast bar and 14 shower rooms with amenities and clothes pressing services.

The group also experienced the airline’s Business First seating between Tokyo and San Francisco, featuring flatbed seating with a duvet and pillow, complimentary Cowshed amenity kits and specialized meal, beverage and entertainment options.

While in San Francisco, the group received a tour of the airline’s 2.9 million square-foot Technical Operations Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Center from Mark Eldred, managing director of SFO base maintenance and MRO services, and Nillson Pan, United’s Guam-based director of technical operations for the Asia Pacific region. They also enjoyed an orientation of the San Francisco International Airport, a bus tour of the city, a San Francisco Giants game at AT&T Park and a brunch cruise in San Francisco Bay to the Golden Gate Bridge.
